Now calling Pittsburgh Home!

Lori Baden with eXp Realty explains her recent move to the Pittsburgh area.

So, as I noted a few months ago in my last post, we sold our beloved barn home in South Carolina. We now call the Pittsburgh area home. Center Township in Beaver County to be exact, just 10-15 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport where Joe now works for Allegiant Airlines.

We are happy to be back home for multiple reasons. First, it is “home” for Joe. We are living in the house he grew up in. We are literally the 3rd generation of his family to live here. His grandfather, Paul Salinshick built this home in 1946 with lumber cut off the property. His dad, Roy “Gus” Baden and his mother, Sue (Salinshick) lived in this home and raised Joe and his brother Bill, and sister Debbie.

It’s been an adventure so far for sure. And LOTS of work. We are keeping some family heirlooms and furniture pieces, but we also trashed a full dumpster and at least a couple hundred contractor bags full of junk. I think the garbage men must hate us. LOL. But we are making progress.

We will take the profit we made on our home there and put it into remodeling here. We have tackled some small projects ourselves but we have a huge kitchen and master bath remodel that we are interviewing contractors for. Turns out, they are just as much (or more) in demand here as they were in South Carolina, so we may have to wait our turn for a few months.

Also, this move puts me much closer to my father who I just found thru Ancestry.com back in January. He lives in the Morgantown, WV area just about 1.5 hours away. We have a lot of lost time to make up for and we have already spent a day together in September on his farm, and also just Thanksgiving together here last week. My mother also lives about an hour and 40 minutes away in WV.

So yes, we are home and we love it here. Everybody keeps asking how I’ll handle the cold since I’ve lived in the Carolinas since 1999. Well, I’ll tell you how… EASY! I LOVE IT! After all, I’m 51 years of age and a woman, and in this time of my life, I’m always warm. LOL! I truly have missed the snow and am praying for a White Christmas!

I’m in the process of working on sitting for my Pennsylvania Real Estate license. I filed the initial application this past week, but I still have some more forms to submit. I have lots to learn I’m sure but look forward to helping sellers and buyers in the area soon with my 21 years’ experience. Stay tuned!

And in the meantime, I still have an active SC Real Estate License and can help facilitate referrals anywhere around the world. Let me know how I can help you or someone you know!

Wormsloe

Lori Baden visits Wormsloe Historic Site in Savannah, GA

So I’ve lived here in the Lowcountry now nearly 8 years and just now finally made it to Wormsloe this past weekend.

It’s only 30 minutes away from my home, in the Coastal Empire in Savannah. And I’ve shared a few pictures on Facebook and Instagram but thought I’d share a few here too.

What a beautiful place full of history. For more information, history and location, please visit the Wormsloe Historic Site website at https://gastateparks.org/Wormsloe .

I highly recommend!

Beach Day!

Lori Baden shares a few moments of beach serenity from Hilton Head Island, SC.

Contrary to what one might think, most of us rarely go to the beach around here, even though we live so close. Life and work gets in the way, but somehow… we still feel the good vibrations of our beloved Atlantic mother in our souls.

I finally got a rare moment to celebrate another dear friend’s birthday with a visit to the ocean. I thought I’d take a moment to share a few pics this morning before I get back to work.

This is definitely the most peaceful time to visit Hilton Head Island. The beaches are empty other than a few locals walking or fishing. Total serenity that I soaked in before we get super busy with tourists and real estate. It was a fantastic way to renew my spirit and remind me why we are so blessed to live here.

Enjoy! And don’t forget to let me know how I can help you find your piece of paradise. 843.505.3132 or Lori@LoriBaden.com.

Magical Oyster Roast

The Magic of an Oyster Roadt explained by Lori Baden

Magical Bluffton Oysters

Honestly, before I moved here, I’d eat an occasional oyster on a half shell. But it generally wasn’t my thing.

Until I moved here, and experienced the magic and beauty of an oyster roast bringing together friends and communities. It’s hard to explain but it is such a bonding experience. The closest thing I can compare it to, is communion at a church.

It’s one of the things I’ve missed most since the pandemic started, but last night, I finally had the opportunity to enjoy once more with a few select friends outdoors.

Lowcountry Communion -aka Oyster Roast

As I watched good friends enjoy the fabulous Bluffton oysters, and some great Lowcountry Boil I must add, I just took it all in. The food, the smells, the sights, the laughter and the friendships. I realize how blessed we are to live in such a glorious place with magical experiences. God is good.

Steaming oysters is an art form.

One of things I love about this area is that there are many festivals and fairs, all year long. One of the biggest ones in the middle of summer is the Beaufort Water Festival. Joe and I went up Sunday to enjoy the Water Skiing Expo. Lots of fun. Here are a few pictures and videos from our afternoon.

Gratitude Moment

A moment of gratitude from Lori Bee, South Carolina State Broker, eXp Realty. #eXpRealtyProud

Really blessed to work with such a fantastic Leadership Team within eXp Realty. I try not to talk about work TOO much here on Social Media, but having had the various experiences that I have in real estate management ranging from horrible to great in the past, I feel so fortunate to be in FANTASTIC status at this point in my career. The best ever. I can’t help but share and be grateful.

I give all the credit to God for answering so many prayers in bringing Steve SaundersPatricia Kay SandersJennifer Combs-MinyardMatt Szalecki,Stacey OnnenGlenn Sanford and my predecessor/mentor, Jim Girard into my life. Along with hundreds of wonderful agents (friends!) who get, that our goal is to make not just their careers better, but their lives too.

What a life changing company this has truly been for me so far. I so look forward to where this journey will lead to.

Thank you God. And thank you one and all, mentioned above, and so many more. Have a wonderful weekend.

God said, “Stop! Look!”

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Grahamville, SC has to be one of the prettiest churches in SC, if not the entire south.

Even on the busiest of real estate days, God has a way of sayin’ : “Stop! Look what I did here, to take your breath away!”

The Church of the Holy Trinity is in Grahamville, SC near Ridgeland, and was on my way home last night from a listing appointment just up Bees Creek Rd.  This has to be one of the prettiest churches in South Carolina, if not the entire South.  Especially this time of year with the azaleas in bloom.

I thought some of you might enjoy God’s handiwork too.

Off to Work

Lori Bee captures local crabbers in Bluffton, SC headed off to work.

Thought I’d run down to Alljoy Landing to catch a sunrise this morning.  It was more than a bit cloudy but there was a bit of color.   And I caught these gentlemen heading off to work, crabbing.   A part of me was envious, but then I realized it may storm today. Then I was simply thankful for the food they provide, and prayerful, for their safe return.

Colleton River Homes for Sale

Lori Bee shares a sunrise view and a list of homes for sale, in beautiful Colleton River, located in Bluffton, SC.

Have you ever seen the Will Smith/Matt Damon/Charlize Theron movie, “The Legend of Bagger Vance?”  Well, even if you are not a golfer, I do highly recommend it. Did you know much of it was filmed right here in Bluffton?  Actually, quite a bit of it was filmed in the gated golf community of Colleton River.   The clubhouse is adorned with pictures of the filming and memorabilia.

A lot of people are surprised when I tell them it was filmed here.  It really does showcase just how gorgeous this area truly is.  It’s also a fabulous place to live.   Here is a list of homes currently for sale in Colleton River.  If I can help you make your dreams come true, just let me know. It would be my pleasure.  My phone is 843-505-3132.

And just to give you a bit of a preview, yesterday I ventured out to the HE Trask Boat Landing in Bluffton and captured this sunrise view of the Clubhouse.   Thought you might enjoy it.  It’s even more spectacular in person.  Wouldn’t it be just fabulous to wake up to every day.   Let’s make that happen….

Soaring Sunrise

Lori Bee captures a Seagull Soaring in the Sunrise over the oyster beds between Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, SC.

So “my Joe,” recently switched shifts at Gulfstream.  He used to have to be at work at 3 pm and now he has to be there at 5am.  He hates it.  LOL.

I on the other hand, being a former farm girl, like being back to a morning routine.  I am much more productive.  And as much as I love sunsets, now I get to enjoy sunrises again too.

Here is this morning’s view.  Let me know if I can help you have a view like this.  It would be my pleasure.
